Biographical Note
James M. Sweeney Jr. was from Columbus, Ohio. He attended Holy Rosary High School before attending Xavier University (Cincinnati, Ohio) from 1930-1934. According to the 1934 Musketeer yearbook, he was a member of the football team and belonged to several student groups, including the Sodality, Masque Society, Philopedian Society, Junior Prom Committee, and the Xaverian News. He also played basketball during his second year (1931-1932 season). Sweeney graduated from Xavier in 1934.
