Biographical / Historical
This building was named in honor of the Rev. Hubert F. Brockman, S.J., president of Xavier from 1923 to 1931. The original cost of the building was $915,000.00. Groundbreaking took place on May 16, 1953. Its dedication and blessing occurred on May 21, 1955. Myers Y. Cooper, former Governor of Ohio, eulogized Fr. Brockman on this occasion.The dedication of the St. Francis Xavier mural in the Brockman Hall lounge happened on May 18, 1957. The dedication of the Mackentepe Memorial Lounge was on June 9, 1959.
