Biographical / Historical
The Century Campaign was meant to prepare Xavier University for its entrance into the Twenty-First Century. The campaign raised over 125 million dollars. James Hoff, S.J. was president of the university at that time. The purposes of the campaign were numerous, including the creation of endowed scholarships and professorships, the creation of an endowment for faculty development, the renovation of Hinkle, Schmidt and Alumni Science Halls, the renovation of the Academic Mall and Residential Mall, the creation of the Xavier Green; the renovation of the University Student Center, and the construction of a Convocation Center (later known as the Cintas Center).
