From the Collection:

This collection contains photographs of people associated with King Records, departments inside the King factory located in Cincinnati's Evanston neighborhood, and promotional materials taken by unknown photographers. Artists and musical groups in photographs include James Brown, Hawkshaw Hawkins, Charlie Moore and Bill Napier, Reno and Smiley and the Tennessee Cut-ups, Earl Bostic, the Impacs, and Freddy King. Other photographs document African American and white women and men working in various departments and the machines used in record production. The collection also has research files containing King-related information such as a clipping announcing the funeral of its founder Sydney Nathan, a pamphlet produced to celebrate King's 25th anniversary titled "This is your Life...Sydney Nathan: King of King," award announcements, and other ephemera.

This collection is open for research. Photographs are fragile which may affect access and reproduction. Materials must be viewed in the Archives Research Room by appointment only.
