Biographical / Historical
The history of this council is obscure. There is no mention of it in any of the annual lists of the University's Standing Committees available in the archives.
The first memo in this collection, written by James W. Sassen and dated September 5, 1975, indicates that the Council was created in the fall of 1975. It is not clear when it went out of existence. The charge of the Council is not clear. In president Charles Currie's memo to the members of the Alumni Council dated March 29, 1984, he says that the purpose of each of the Council's subcommittees is "to review what is happening in a particular area (of the University) and to offer advice, criticism and suggestions."
