Scope and Contents

The New Student Record, also published as the Freshman Record and the Freshman Register, was published annually by the Student Government Association at the time of first-year student orientation (Manresa). Its purpose was to supply new students with useful information about campus, activities, services, calendars, and other student-related information. The publication includes each incoming student's photograph, major, and interests. While it is not known when the publication was first introduced, it was discontinued around 1997-1998.

Biographical / Historical

The New Student Record was published by the Xavier University Student Government Association (SGA). SGA "exists to continuously improve the university and develop all undergraduate students, part-time and full-time, traditional and non-traditional alike. SGA provides a forum for civic training and student participation in university governance and strives to preserve the rights and freedoms of all students" (SGA website, 2019).
