Administrative History

Xavier University was founded as the Athenaeum in 1831 by Bishop Edward Fenwick. The Society of Jesus took control of the school and renamed it St. Xavier College in 1840. In 1930, it was renamed Xavier University. The Division of Financial Administration's mission is "to build and deliver strategic leadership, sustainable innovation, effective and high-quality services in finance, business, facilities and auxiliary services (ConneX), all in partnership with the Xavier community to support our pursuit of educational excellence." (1). The division prepares the University's annual financial reports and works with independent auditors for financial review. The Vice President of the division serves as the University's Chief Business Officer and reports to the President. 1. Arrangement

This collection is arranged into one series, Financial Reports, chronologically.

Custodial History

Some financial statements compiled by library staff (1969-2000) and maintained in library reserves until transfer to University Archives in 2009. Other financial reports transferred to University Archives from the Office of Institutional Research (XUA2012-018) and the Office of the President (XUA2020-008).

Acquired from library staff, Office of Institutional Research (XUA2012-018), and the Office of the President (XUA2020-008).

Processing Information

Materials from separate University office transfers were combined and triplicates discarded during the course of processing. Financial reports were removed from binders and placed in archival boxes.
