History of the Xavier University Provost Council

The Provost Council existed from 2005 to 2010.

In June 2004 Xavier University established the provost structure. "Consisting of the divisions of Academic Affairs, Information Resources, Mission and Ministry and Student Development, the provost model helps to provide the best education possible to our students." (See first memo in this collection) In August, 2005, the formation of the Provost Council was announced. The Council continued in existence until around March, 2010. According the first memo in this collection entitled "Provost Council", "The purpose of the Provost Council was three fold: 1) To address major questions of short- and long-range importance to the learning enterprise; 2) To integrate the University's Strategic Plan in overall planning; 3) To review proposed new programs and positions - evaluated, reviewed and proposed by respective divisions - in relationship to existing programs, positions, and budgetary resources."
